Isidro & Lucy Mejia
Isidro and Lucy got married on December 21, 1975. Six months into their marriage, Isidro wanted a divorce. Lucy left their home and returned to her parents. One night, as Isidro sat alone listening to a Christian radio show, God began to move. Isidro was brought to his knees and completely surrendered himself to Jesus. He immediately called Lucy and asked her to please come home. He told Lucy what had happened to him and how Jesus had changed his life, and in that moment, Lucy gave herself to the Lord as well. Isidro and Lucy now have four children and six grandchildren and partner together as the pastors of the House of Restoration Church in Barrio George.
The House of Restoration Church started when Isidro felt God calling him to Barrio George to serve the needy and share the Gospel. The church’s first congregation was made up of children that Isidro would meet with daily in a small, rented space that was the church’s first building. As the congregation began to grow and more people were led to Christ, a larger space was needed. In the meantime, God introduced Covenant Church to Barrio George, and through various missions teams that traveled there to serve, God began to transform the House of Restoration Church and community. The children that made up that church’s first congregation have now grown into adulthood and continue to serve as leaders in the church. Many of those children have brought their families to Christ.
